There are some cool hostels here. One had a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy theme: “Heart of Gold” is the ship, and the hostel name. Another just had nifty art on all the walls.

From a distance it looks a bit like a sea of coffins. Walk inside, and you’re lost in a bunch of pillars and can’t see much of the outside.

Berlin has lots and lots of graffiti and art on the streets. I enjoy seeing it - to me, it all feels more artistic and less threatening/gang-related than, say, LA’s. Then again, I can’t read any of it in German, so who knows?

On the text in the last photo: a surprising number of people outside the US have an opinion on him, but not one I’ve heard has been positive. 

Hallo, Germany!

Tiergarten was near my first hostel. It’s a park with many historic statues. Last picture features Brandenburg Tor, an 18th-century gate. So far, Berlin’s very pretty and clearly has lots of history.
